Seed-To-Table #3: Potting-on Work Party

Our third edition of the Rock City Neighbourhood Association's Seed-to-table series is all about Potting-on.
Potting-up or potting-on is a gardening term describing transplanting of small seedlings into bigger pots. We will be potting on all of the seedlings from the first two workshops (tomatoes, peppers, winter and summer squash, flowers, cucumbers, and more). We will be taking inventory and earmarking plants for neighbourhood households and giveaways/sale for fundraising.
Participants will be offered any extra seedlings that we have on the day.
First timers and children welcome!
Ladies Clothing Swap

Please bring your clothing and any other items (accessories, games, puzzles, purses, ...) to swap. The swap will be pretty casual in that anyone can bring as much as they want and take as much as they want. Anything that isn't taken can either be taken back by the person who brought it, or I'll arrange to have it donated to a thrift store.
There won't be lunch, but I'll have snack-y foods. If you'd like to bring something to share, please make it vegetarian.

Up next in this series of workshops is sowing summer plants like squash and sunflower, making soil for starts, and separating and repotting all the tomatoes, zucchini and peppers. There will be a bunch spinach and lettuce to take home and plant too.

Come and learn how to save energy, money, and reduce your greenhouse gas emissions, with a live demonstration of a thermal imaging camera. Please bring a vegetarian dish to share and a coat. We’ll spend 30 minutes outside with the thermal camera, then go inside to share food and stories about home energy renovations.
This event is a collaboration between the Rock City Neighbourhood Association (RCNA) and the Nanaimo Old City Association (NOCA) with support from the City of Nanaimo.
Seed-To-Table #1: Seed-Planting Work Party

It's the perfect time of year to start seedlings! Let's get together to plant seeds. The resulting seedlings will be shared in the next instalment of the Seed-To-Table Series 2024.
Bring gardening gloves and small tools (trowel). If you ordered seeds through Tamara and already picked them up, bring those, or other high quality seed packaged for 2024.
It's going to be sunny and warm so bring a hat and a water bottle.
This is not a pot luck so eat before you arrive.
The days activities will be prepping as many seedling trays as we can, labeling them, organizing flats, and doing everything we can to make it easy for Chris and Tamara to host a bunch of seedlings for the neighbourhood over the spring.
